Shaken. Not stirred.
These are all phrases which have embedded themselves in our culture now for 44 years. 007 is no longer a series of numbers, but a call sign for one of today's most recognizable movie icons. The James Bond series began in literature as the brain child of Ian Fleming, and immediately jumped to the silver screen. But of course, we all know this. To date, there have been 5 different Bonds captured on film.
Sean Connery: The Quintessential Bond.
George Lazenby: The Forgotten Bond.
Roger Moore: The Sensible Bond.
Timothy Dalton: The New-Age Bond.
Pierce Brosnan: The Savior Bond. Now, all of these aforementioned actors have brought something unique to the franchise; Connery, with his suave demeanor set the standard that all Bonds shall follow. Lazenby, though short lived, also put forth his best effort, and in some circles has become a cult favorite. Roger Moore enjoyed success as the Bond who starred in more films than all his other peers. Timothy Dalton lived with the reputation of the most "dark" and "brooding" Bond. Pierce Brosnan is most often acclaimed for his ability to rejuvenate the franchise, and is also what some consider Connery's second coming.
This brings me to my topic of discussion: Brosnan has opted out of doing another Bond film, and although the position has already been filled, I still feel the need to put in my opinions for worthy Bond candidates.
Clive Owen: We all know him from Sin City. The fore runner in my book.
Hugh Jackman: Of course, Wolverine from the X-Men series.
Eric Bana: The last time you remember seeing him, he was too busy getting a sword pushed through his chest as Hector in Troy.
Viggo Mortensen: The Vigster was pretty damn badass as Aragorn if you ask me. He's worthy.
Goran Visnjic: Dr. Kovak from ER. I say, give the shot huh? Why not?
Colin Farrell: Yeah, he's Irish, and Alexander really set him back a couple years, but get him bulked up a bit, it'd work.
Jason Statham: Ok, he's bald but he's shown that not only can he lay beatdowns, he can also drive. Both worthy James Bond attributes.
With that said, I have to really question what the fuck people were thinking with a couple of the Bond candidates.
Orlando Bloom: Englishtown. That's all I can say about that pretty much.
Jude Law: OHHHH ALFIE!! Stay in your own damn genre.
Heath Ledger: Nah.
Hugh Grant: ...
Ewan McGregor: Good actor and all. But I just can't seem to get images of him in Trainspotting out of my mind. Wouldn't work.

I still have to say that the chosen candidate, Daniel Craig, is a poor matching for the role of Bond.
Not to discredit him, but first of all, he's blond, wrinkly and without any apparent suaveness or character. He seems as likely a candidate for Bond villain than 007 imo. Shit, might as well have cast Kevin Leary as James Bond. In any case, let's hear who all you readers (all 2 of you!) think is capable of filling that tux.
